    Aegotheles insignis tatei Rand, 1941, low elevations at headwaters of Fly River, New Guinea. Possibly forms a superspecies with A. insignis and A. crinifrons. Formerly treated as lowland race of A. insignis, but recent studies indicate that it is a separate species (see page 253). Monotypic. (source: Handbook of the Birds of World)
