Taxonomy: Philemon albitorques P. L. Sclater, 1877, Admiralty Islands, Bismarck Archipelago.

Phylogeny: 

Forms a superspecies with P. fuscicapillus, P. subcorniculatus, P. moluccensis, P. plumigenis, P. buceroides, P. cockerelli and P. eichhorni. Formerly suggested that all may belong to a single species. Monotypic.
