Platalea regia Gould, 1838

Bill and face more extensively black than in P. Minor, with conspicuous yellow patches above eyes. Long crest. Males slightly larger, with longer bills, legs and often crest. Non-breeding adults lack crest and yellow at base of fore neck. Immature as non-breading adult, has shorter, smooth bill, and lacks red and yellow patches on head, has black tips on primaries.
