Both sexes dark blue crown and upper parts, white rump and under parts, tail dark blue, central rectrices 11 cm longer than rest and white margins, spatupate tips, bill red, iris dark brown, legs and foot olive grey. Juvenile browner, under-parts rufous-buff with darker stripes, bill brown with horn-coloured base of lower mandible.

- Aru Is, and S New Guinea in Trans-Fly region (R Merauke N to R Fly and E to R Oriomo).
Dense lowland forest, including drier habitats than those used by T. Galatea.
Insect and insect larvae, taken from foliage and on the ground.
Laying in Aru Isl. In Apr, recently fledged bird in May. Reported nest in arboreal termitia. No other info.
