Distribution:
- Mountains of New Guinea: N Vogelkop, Wissel Lakes area, Victor Emanuel Range (Telefomin), upper R Sepik and Adelbert Mts E to Aseki (Morobe Province), Eastern Highlands (Okapa) and Owen Stanley Range.
Their diet mainly consists of grass seeds and weeds, but they also have a fondness for insects.
